Last year, as a final project for my marketing class, we were supposed to come up with a product and create a full marketing plan for it.
One of the ideas that I had come up with was a roll-up LCD screen, to be attached or linked with a mobile device (Blackberry, Windows Mobile, iPhone) and used in tandem with a roll up keyboard to increase productivity without a laptop while on the road. I have it written down right here, on a piece of paper I scribbled a bunch of ideas on. Don’t believe me?
Practically all of my ideas were ignored or brushed off as foolish and unrealistic. Well, it isn’t as unrealistic as one might think. Why? Because of this. Sony has created a flexible LCD screen that also uses less energy than a traditional LCD screen. It can be rolled up and still be in perfect condition.
Score one for the dreamers!

You’d be surprised to find me here, non?
Maybe not as insightful as your roll up LCD screen, but totally feeling you. Back in science class in grade 8, we were supposed to make up some sorta invention. So, I thought of this ‘toothpaste squeezer’. And well…basically, we had to brainstorm ideas and let the teacher approve of our “invention” before we work on it. My teacher completely disregarded my idea. So last year, my friend came across this actual ‘toothpaste squeezer’, and bought it for me (since I was silly enough to tell her my rejected idea a while back). Anyway, the company is probably not making as much of a profit than your crazy tech-y idea, but it still burns every time I use that thing. Haha

Ouch! Well, now it’s time to look at the product and see if it does exactly what you intended it to do back when you dreamed it up!
Looking at my “roll up LCD screen” idea, I wasn’t thinking about energy consumption, but that is exactly what the focus is on most of these bad boys. The army is developing one mostly for portability, but also for usage in low-power missions! So definitely a bit different mindset, but still cool!
